The Companion's Valley

I wonder if this illness
isn't as hard
	or harder
	on Joe
than it is on me.
Sure, I am the one who struggles
	with the chemo
	week by week,
but he has to watch it all,
and often the frustration of
not being able to make it better
grates on his tender soul.
The fun times are also gone
	for him;
the lonely times increased; the
burden of household duties multiplied.
He journeys through a valley
	all his own
as he so caringly and lovingly
walks by my side through
this winter of our lives.
