Welcome to this website!

I'm a 11-yr cancer survivor and keep up this website as a means to
encourage others going through a valley. As you browse, my hope is
that you'll find something that will encourage you.

October is the month my first husband Peter died in Australia,
and every year the kids and I come up with something to remember him.
My son Jim, who lives in Australia, sent me a slide show of orchids and
inspirational comments all set to music. Thinking about fall here and
orchids there, prompted the poem "October Orchid." (Click on orchid)
To see the slide show click on:

The CIBC in Niag-o-t-Lake invites you to drop in and
"buy a word" to raise funds for cancer!!
They are using some the poetry from my Cancer book. Click on
thumbnail at left to see how "The Dance" poem is taking shape.

I was interviewed on The Drew Marshall Show, Joy 1250, live on
July 4/09. You can listen to it on-line at
http://www.drewmarshall.ca/listen2009.html

Scroll down to July 4 and my name.

See left side-bar also for pieces in Archives relating to keeping well and
hopefully cancer-free.

Other pieces written in the past are in "Archives"

The Tenth Anniversary Expanded Edtion of The Valley of Cancer
has a new cover, reader comments, and an added 19-page section titled
"Reflections: Ten Years Later" where I share some thoughts about what
I believe has helped me to remain healthy and cancer-free.
Visit "Valley" for details.

Visit Seven Angels for details about my amazing adventure and heartbreak
in the Australian outback.

Visit Hot Apple Cider, "HAC" for information on this 296-page inspirational
anthology filled with thought-provoking, stories written by 30 Canadian authors.
My story in HAC is called "It Was Then That I Carried You" and is adapted
from the Seven Angels book.

You may also want to visit the official Hot Apple Cider website:
www.hotapplecider.ca for much more info, interviews by authors, etc. etc.

Blessings as you browse! And do feel free to email me at: fastvlaar@becon.org
